🍸 Mother of the Maid

Mother of the MaidJane Anderson, playwright; Matthew Penn, director

Cast: Glenn Close, Grace Van Patten, Dermot Crowley, Andrew Hovelson and others

An intriguing idea.  Everyone knows the story of Joan of Arc but where did she come from and what was the effect of her life on the family she left behind?  Though the play seems not quite fully-fleshed, it is original and captivatingly acted.  Flashes of humor illuminate what would have been a fairly dismal home life and Glenn Close is magnificent in her portrayal of Joan’s mother. A must for fans.

Public Theater until December 23

Preceded by dinner at The Library.
