We both both loved this production, transferred from St. Ann’s Warehouse. Retaining the book and score with contemporary adaptations, revealing and interpreting both to reveal the dark heart of America. This iconic musical remains its wonderful self, always having had a dark edge, bringing up several historical and contemporary issues, including America’s love affair with guns.
We were mesmerized by the cast, on-stage musicians, vocals, and choreography, and set.
Enjoy chili and corn bread at intermission, and consider treating yourself to table seats along the stage periphery ($200+). Bravo!
